Farm-to-Table Fall: Best Farmers Markets Around Portland

Fall is genuinely one of the best eating seasons in the Pacific Northwest, and Portland's farmers markets are where that shows up first. If you're looking for the best of the season's produce, or just an excuse for a Saturday morning outing, here's where to go before the outdoor market season winds down for the year.

PSU Farmers Market. The city's flagship market runs year round in the South Park Blocks downtown, but fall is arguably its best season, with winter squash, apples, root vegetables, and the last of the season's tomatoes all showing up at once across more than a hundred vendor stalls. It's the market to visit if you only make it to one.

Hollywood Farmers Market. A neighborhood favorite in Northeast Portland, running every Saturday well into December, with live music and a genuinely community feel alongside the produce. A great option if downtown parking isn't your idea of a good Saturday.

Montavilla Farmers Market. Located in Southeast Portland, this market runs through the fall and stretches into a reduced winter schedule, making it one of the more reliable options as the seasons shift.

King Farmers Market and Lents International Farmers Market. Both run into late November and offer a different flavor from the bigger downtown markets, King leaning into a tight knit Northeast Portland community feel, and Lents bringing genuinely international food vendors alongside the produce stalls.

Beyond the markets themselves, this is also the season to lean on local grocers who prioritize regional and organic sourcing if a Saturday market doesn't fit your schedule. Look for stores that highlight Oregon and Washington growers directly on their shelves, especially for apples, winter squash, and greens, which are at their absolute best right now.

Farm to table doesn't have to mean a restaurant reservation. Sometimes it just means a canvas bag, a Saturday morning, and a willingness to cook whatever looks best that week.
