(My) Top 5 Gluten-Free Lunch Spots

Whether you're managing celiac, an intolerance, or just curious, Portland's food scene makes gluten free eating remarkably easy, and remarkably good. Here are five lunch spots worth building your Saturday errands around.

Harlow. This Southeast Portland staple is entirely gluten free and mostly vegan, serving up grain bowls, fresh juices, and a raw "pasta" made from shredded vegetables that somehow actually works. A great lunch stop if you want something that feels both indulgent and genuinely good for you.

Bastion PDX. A dedicated gluten free, dairy free cafe from a local nutritionist, Bastion covers sandwiches, soups, toasts, and fresh baked pastries, plus a deli case worth browsing on your way out. Reliable, unfussy, and easy to trust if you're strict about cross contamination.

Mestizo. Southeast Division's fully gluten free tapas spot serves shareable plates like mushroom and Beyond Meat empanadas with house made dipping sauces. It's a fun one to bring a friend to who doesn't even eat gluten free, since nothing here reads as a special diet compromise.

Kirari | West. When I'm craving an almond croissant, gluten free pastry or a delicioius sandwich with honestly good gluten free bread I head to NW 23rd and have lunch at Kirari. I always leave with a takeaway box of pastries for later cravings. I encourage you to do the same!

Tin Shed Garden Cafe. Known for a genuinely thoughtful dedicated gluten free menu, including biscuits that get talked about specifically, Tin Shed has leaned further into full allergy friendly options recently, making it a solid choice for a group with mixed dietary needs.

You don't need a special occasion to try any of these, just an appetite and maybe a friend to split a few plates with.
